Residents' anger over Shevington barn plans

A huge row has erupted over plans to build a barn on one of the last green spots in Shevington.
Residents complained to the council after they discovered an application had been submitted to erect a giant corrugated building on the field by Miles Lane.
They say they have not been consulted about the "eyesore" – which could dramatically reduce the value of their homes and destroy habitat on the local greenbelt stretch.
Planning officers have been forced to put the proposals out to public consultation again and have admitted that not enough people were informed the first time.
Dalila Fearn, owner of nearby Calico Livery Stables, submitted the application in February.
She wants to build a barn – 48m by 25m – to store hay and machinery.
Andrew Lowe, of Lower Lyndon Avenue, says he only became aware when he saw four diggers outside his home last week.
He said: "We look right onto the field and we have not even been told. Just because the barn is deemed agricultural does not mean it can just be passed – especially on one of the last fields in Shevington.
"It is going to be massive. If the council had told us in the first place then there wouldn't be this 11th hour panic."
Mr Lowe and his neighbours also fear that the barn could be made into a horse arena after it has been built.
She denies this, saying its only use will be storage.
