Aimee Bradshaw is what girl power is all about - in the male-dominated world of rugby league, the 25-year-old from Ince is flying the flag for women – and Wigan!
Aimee had just been called up into the Great Britain ladies team to contest this year's World Cup – following in the footsteps of her male counterpart at Wigan Warriors, Gareth Hock.

At the same time as Super League players from England, Scotland and Ireland are battling it out their World Cup in Australia, including nine of the Wigan team which played last season, Aimee will be representing the Great Britain women Down Under.

The Wigan newspaper classified sales representative plays for the Warrington Ladies team.
She is the only Wigan-based girl in the side and it was nip and tuck she made it.

Aimee, a back row forward who has toured New Zealand and France before, was initially over-looked.
She said: "I made the train-on squad, but then didn't get picked to travel.

"I was really upset, but then the coach rang me up out of the blue and told me that I was in.
"I was made up and now I'm going to Australia, I can't wait."

She is part of a squad of 22 players who will travel to Queensland, Australia, on October 30 in a bid to win the World Cup.

The team faces group matches against Australia, Tonga and Russia with the final due to be played before the semi-final of the men's rugby league world cup in the Suncorp Stadium, Brisbane, on November 15
