Racial abuse, wanton vandalism, harassment, threats and intimidation – just some of the activities of a gang which brought terror to the streets of Beech Hill.
People and property were the targets of the thugs and a catalogue of evidence was presented to the court.
In two separate sittings, Wigan and Leigh Magistrates' Court heard how the community of Beech Hill had been gripped by fear of young thugs.
One witness, a former Beech Hill resident who cannot be named for fear of reprisals, claimed children were allowed to "roam around like a pack of dogs".

Amanda Browitt, 14, her brother Connor Browitt, 15, Callum Doran, 15, Connah Doran, 12, Katy Sharrock, 16, Michael Lee, 14, Lewis Tracey, 12, and Joshua Tracey, 15, have all been issued with two-year orders prohibiting them from using threatening, abusive, or insulting words in public, or behaving in a manner that is likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress to any person not of the their household across Wigan.

They must also avoid contact with other members of the gang as named by the court.
In addition, they must not congregate in any group of more than three individuals within certain parts of Beech Hill while behaving in a manner causing, or likely to cause, any other person to fear for their safety or property, or the property of another.

Also subject to a two-year order is 14-year-old Liam Brogan, who was also prohibited from engaging in conduct likely to place any persons in fear for their safety or property, or the safety and property of another person within the borough of Wigan.

They should all be sent to boot camp and their families fined.
They are a shame on society.
If you speak out there is no protection from the police so the spiral goes on.

An ASBO is a threat and what good is a threat that isn't upheld. They'll break the rules set by the ASBO and will they see jail? No I doubt it and these kids know that.

You cannot change these kids. Its exactly like asking a Taliban soldier to suddenly start to embrace America. Its not going to happen. They are a problem 16 years in the making. A good hiding at 5 or 6 years old may have worked but at 14-16 they cannot be changed.

To little, to late. Didnt the New Labour spin doctors say anti-social behaviour is going down. None of these kids will rate this as punishment. We have an ineffective police force, (book an appointment if you want to see one) and a Government that is as much use as the proverbial chocolate fireguard.

What use is an asbo when the Parents and guardians of these yobs clearly don't give a damn, I know that from experience having had run ins with some of them previously and told by a "guardian" they are just kids, well my kids don't behave like that.... these people just sherk the responsibility for an easy life and provide them with the beer and ciggies, they should be locked up themselves with them

The parents of these poorly understood little darlings are entirely to blame. I wonder how many of thee kids have regular contact with someone who has a job and/or responsibilities-- other than cashing a giro each week.

The cycle of unemployment and young parenting is almost impossible to break. I understand that the local schoolis also on an improvement notice.
