Vandals targeting blocks of flats in Old Skelmersdale are causing a danger to the public, says the town's MP.
Rosie Cooper, Labour MP for West Lancashire, is disgusted at the state of the tile cladding on the side of properties in Waverley.

Parts of the cladding have been completely ripped off, smashed and left on the ground, exposing the brickwork underneath.

Missing tiles are being replaced, only to be vandalised again a short while later.

Ms Cooper has now written to the council's housing chief, Bob Livermore, calling for a long term solution to be found.

She said: "The cladding is in a shocking state and the pathways nearby are covered with tiles that have been smashed to smithereens.

"While in Waverley, I spoke to one resident who told me that children are largely responsible for the damage.

"I've asked Bob Livermore for a firm assurance that the damaged tiles on the floor will be swept up as a matter of urgency as they are a danger to residents, and that any loose tiles be removed before they are pulled off. Clearly, a long term solution needs to be found and I look forward to hearing what action the council will be taking to resolve this matter once and for all."
