A new vocational skills centre has been opened at Hindley High School.
Costing £240,000, the new centre of excellence has been created through the refurbishment of the school's old music building.

It was officially opened by Leigh MP Andy Burnham, the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport.
Facilities include a hairdressing salon, a plumbing centre, an IT suite and office space.

The centre aims to provide students aged 14 to 19 with the means to gain hands-on experience in a number of trades.

A school spokesman said: "This is an exciting, major development for the school, benefiting those of our pupils who want to access more vocational qualifications. We are really proud of our new centre and we are sure the pupils will value their time spent in the building."
