A WOMAN was injured in a serious crash on the East Lancashire Road which caused rush hour traffic chaos.
The accident, just off the Haydock Island, resulted in one car being wedged on the central reservation at 8am yesterday.

A Peugeot 306 and a Ford Mondeo collided sending one of the cars spinning across the carriageway.

A woman in one of the cars suffered arm and shoulder injuries. No-one else was hurt.

The road did not need to be closed but traffic calming measures were put in place while the police removed the damaged vehicles.
