The owner of this poor pooch is calling for owners to be forced to keep their dogs under control after he was attacked while out walking.
Stephanie Knight, 22, of Glebe End Street, Springfield, was walking her Staffordshire Bull Terrier Benji in Scholes, when he was savagely attacked by two other Staffordshires.

The dogs jumped on top of Benji and bit his face, gripping his eye and nose.

Even though the dogs were on leads, the male owner was unable to control them.

Stephanie said: "Both dogs were on top of mine. One was on his face and eye and one was at the front – the dog's tooth was in my dog's nose.

"The owner was trying to prise its jaw open. We were there about 15 minutes trying to get the jaw unlocked.

"My dog was crying and squealing because he was in so much pain.
"After the dogs let go the man just walked off. My dog was bleeding.

"I have a two-year-old daughter, Izabelle – she was in her pram, which is lucky. I can't even imagine what would have happened if she hadn't been in her pram. The dogs were vicious."

Benji has been allowed to come home from the vets, but has a deep cut on his eyelid, a cut under his jaw, a swollen mouth and a hole in his nose.

According to nearby residents, the dogs have attacked other dogs before.
Victoria O'Donnell, 22, of Rivington Lane, Aspull, said her two-year-old Jack Russell, named Jack, was attacked by the same dogs a month ago.

She said: "I saw two dogs on Jack. They gripped his neck like a rag doll. He was shaking and had holes in his neck, and his ribs were bruised."

Stephanie is now warning other dog owners to be aware of the two Staffordshire Bull Terriers.

She said: "I want to get this sorted. If a dog is dangerous, it should be muzzled.

"They have done really bad damage and nearly killed another dog. They should either put the dogs down or the owner should get them muzzled.

"Staffs like those give others a bad name – mine is so soft and good with children and other dogs."

The RSPCA said the Dangerous Dogs Act only refers to when a person is attacked by a dog, rather than a dog on dog attack.

The RSPCA said if an owner of a dog is aware of it being aggressive and attacking other animals they could be deemed guilty of an offence under the Animal Welfare Act 2006 for failing to control their dog properly.

An RSPCA spokesman said: "Owners have a duty to keep their dogs under control at all times and to train them in a way that discourages aggression towards people and other animals. Neutering dogs can also help reduce acts of aggression."

The problem is you can’t blame the dogs you have to blame the owners; the dogs are just doing what is breed into them.

Its not just so called dangerous dogs, I was walking home from the shops the other day and there were two people on the path the man had some sort of terrier on one of those extendable leads, as I got nearer the dog ran towards me growling, at this point the man said oh he’s ok he wont bite you, now the dog is just doing what he knows, but I couldn’t understand why this owner didn’t just keep the dog on a shorter lead if he knows that it does this all the time?

I was alone but what if I had had a child with me that sort of action could make a child frighten of dogs for the rest of their lives.

Dog owners really need to be a lot more responsible with their dogs

That's OBVIOUSLY a fighting dog. "Even though the dogs were on leads, the male owner was unable to control them." THAT is basically the problem............and these attack dogs are legal........... but if I carry any protection to defend myself, that protection is illegal. There is an increasingly violent situation being played on the streets, between dog owners and pedestrians........... were people are trying to look tougher than others for an appearance of pride, and pretensious ego power (instead of becoming more educated and enjoying life more). The Police dont really care, there is nothing they can do until after an attack, and the only person to blame for a death or mutilation, is a dog. Personally I feel all dogs need to be muzzled when outside LEGALLY. There needs to be a law to ensure that. Only that would stop the violence, brutality and intimidation. These mix breeds are no different, or maybe worse than pure breeeds etc.... My advise is move out the area Stephanie, get a nice dog and live in a nice area of the UK where ignorant, half drunk, half brained morons, in scruffy clothes, with out of control dogs.......trying to intimidate others who are the same, don't randomly attack you or your children. You should feel lucky it wasnt you who was attacked, because ANYONE can be a victim of these legal time bombs. THERE NEEDS TO BE A MUZZLE LAW. NOW.

I don't believe in killing dogs that have attacked people.
Both the dog and the owner should be locked up until the dog dies a natural death.
Dogs, by and large, reflect their owners character and it is the owner, not the dog that should be punished.

Janet Bosworth, you know jack about dogs these are not attack dogs its a bull terrier, not a pitbull HUGE DIFFERENCE, these are not cross breeds, they are pure pedigree, i have bred these dogs for 22 years and have 4 myself, and i'm not a half brained half drunk, moron in scruffy clothes with out of control dogs, if anyone should move out the UK you should coming out with sayings like that.....as the words say dont tar everyone woth the same brush.
Just like kids and adults, some good and some bad.

I'm sure the breeder above is a responsible owner and seller of her pups. It is unfortunate that this breed has become the latest trend for chavs and who don't know how to train and care for their dog - leading to anti social animals.
There are responsible breeders out there, who I am sure hate the puppy farmers who sell any dog to any idiot.
I would be devastated if my dog was attacked. I hope this lady has reported it to the necessary authorities and these yobs are found before they attack a child.

Janet Bosworth-OBVIOUSLY a fighting dog? How do you come to such a conclusion?? The dog is to blame??? Move out of the area??
Chalkface is right, the irresponsible breeders and owners are to blame.

ALL DOGS NEED MUZZLES AND KEPT ON A LEASH IN PUBLIC. THAT LAW NEEDS TO HAPPEN. I have heard of people mixing all kind of nasty dogs (presa canario, pitt bull, doberman etc....) and then calling them "mixed breeds" to skirt around laws. The Dangerous Dog Act is almost never used by Police. It is meaningless and a time bomb. This is an upcoming problems in the UK. In other places, especially ghettos of California, it is a huge problem. The main type of person who own this type of attack dog in inner cities are drug dealers / gang members. That dog pictured above is EXACTLY the type of dog associated with gang violence. That increase in power association for "protection", the increase of the media to feed and popularise violent crime creates a fictional urban nightmare that people feed into. If you own a dog like this YOU BRING PROBLEMS ON YOURSELF AND OTHER PEOPLE. That dog (above) doesnt belong in a civil society. All dogs should be muzzled in public places. People run this society not your pet ! .......and special areas should be designated for dogs to play. That is the only solution. It needs to happen. Dogs are now weapons thanks to drunk, ASBO inner city youths on empty, shallow, uneducated power trips....

HER EVIL DOG AND HER IGNORANCE CREATED THIS STORY. HER DOG WILL CREATE MORE "STORIES". THESE DOGS ARE NOTORIOUS FOR KILLING AND MAIMING PEOPLE AND OTHER DOGS. Are you people SERIOUSLY asking for sympathy because the proverbial gun blew up in her face ? If all the ignorant people in every run down neighbourhood in the UK buys an aggressive, violent dog with lock jaws as a "pet" WHAT DO YOU EXPECT ? CIVILITY ??? RESPECT FROM THE PUBLIC ???? WRONG. That dog need to be put down. These breeds needs to be wiped out and made illegal.
