Workmates will be scaling Yorkshire's highest peaks to raise money for charity.
The group of 24 friends, many of whom work at H2O Northwest in Haydock Cross, will attempt the Yorkshire Three Peak Challenge on May 17, and already look set to break their £2,000 fundraising target for Leukaemia Research..

The challenge involves completing a 23-mile circuit over the Yorkshire Dales in 12 hours. Along the way, the climbers will have to negotiate the three Yorkshire peaks, each of which is more than 650m high.

Group member Jonathan Sutton, 42, from Lowton, said: "We've been mates for years and decided we wanted to give something back. We chose to raise money for Leukaemia Research because several of the lads have had cancer in their families.

"We don't do much walking except from home to the Hare and Hounds pub so it's a good challenge for us."

The team is already planning to beat the 12-hour average time by two hours.
And they are already looking set to beating their fundraising target.

If you would like to sponsor the team you can visit www.justgiving.com/lowton3peakchallenge, or donate directly to Leukaemia Research on 02074 050 101.
