The price of petrol may never come down because of the world economy.
I think therefore that Wigan Council's planning executives need to be sure that when they approve any developments like retail parks, supermarkets and especially industrial estate that the road infrastructure is in place beforehand.
Our town centres
are at bursting point with HGVs thundering through them, (and yes I mean thundering). I followed one going through Ashton town centre the other day travelling well over 50mph. I also suggest to the hauliers that they, as I try to do, conserve their petrol by slowing down.
Apart from travelling to work at Birchwood, I am now thinking how I can get around without using the car.
Yesterday, I went shopping into Wigan and caught a bus. It was really satisfying coming home to realise that whilst we were sailing through via the bus lane, cars in the other lane were standing still. We were home in 15 minutes!
So come on Wigan, we need more thought about how we are all going to get around in the future.

Feminazis and the sex trade
It does not surprise me that most people think prostitution should be legalised, despite all the Government's propaganda which wants to prosecute men for paid sex between consenting adults.
Women should have the right to sell sex if they choose, and the Government should ensure a safe working environment for sex workers and their clients as women's safety is more important than moral judgments.
It's the moralising by people like Harriet Harman who promote intolerance, hostility and persecution towards sex workers in the same way that gays and lesbians faced years ago.
It's time that the Feminazis realise that some women work as prostitutes – get over it.

I'm hunting for my dad's lost family
I am trying to trace my family tree for my father, who has no surviving family members in Ireland or anywhere else. The only information I have is of a lady called Florence Harding. She lived at Sunny Mead, Wigan Road, Euxton, Lancashire. She had two nieces, Mary Elizabeth Webster from The Towers, Wigan Road and Elinor Brady from Chorley. I have no idea how to find out if they are even alive or if they have any ancestors. I know Florence died on August 22, 1952.
Any help at all anyone could offer would be greatly appreciated.

Help our search for vital vaccine
At Meningitis UK, we have a single focus – to find a vaccine to eradicate all forms of meningitis. Sadly, although successful vaccines exist to protect against some forms, there is still no vaccine available to protect against all strains, including the most common form – meningococcal group B, which accounts for almost 90 per cent of all cases in the UK. With persistent research and with the support of the public, we are confident that new vaccines can be developed.
Last year we launched our Search 4 a Vaccine Campaign to help raise £7 million to fund vital research into achieving this goal, and without the continued support from volunteers across the country we would not be able to continue our vital work.
If any of Evening Post reader would like to join us in our search for a vaccine, please phone Meningitis UK on 0117 373 7373.
Nicola Clarke, Meningitis UK
