Billy also played for Ince Rose Bridge Rugby Club and it was there that a large event was held on Sunday, on what would have been his birthday.
There was a rugby match and a raffle, before friends and family released a host of balloons into the sky for Billy.
It was an emotional weekend for Billy’s loved ones, but it is hoped hundreds of pounds have been raised in his memory.
Peter Conor, 31, of no fixed address, has been charged with Billy’s murder. He is due to appear at Manchester Crown Court (Crown Square) tomorrow.
