Startled police pulled over a cyclist who caused a crash on the M58 near Wigan.

The cyclist had apparently gone onto the motorway on his push bike to get his daily exercise.

Police said he had been using the inside lane of the motorway, between junctions 4 and 5 between Orrell and Skelmersdale, causing a driver to swerve around him and collide with a van.
