Wigan court delays dying man's indecent images case so he can finish treatment

The case of a man from the borough accused of a string of offences involving indecent images of children has been adjourned so that his cancer treatment can be completed.
Keith Holding, from Leigh, is accused of making more than 150 illegal images of youngsters, some of them in the most serious Category A.

Hide AdThe 60-year-old, from Selbourne Street, faces a number of charges related to the making of indecent photographs of children.
These are all alleged to have taken place over a two-year period, with some of the charges relating to 2017 and others to 2019.
Prosecutors allege that between October 9 and November 21 2017 Holding made five category A images of children, two in category B and 43 in category C.
He also faces allegations that between March 9 and March 28 2019 Holding made one category B image and 78 category C images.

Hide AdAt a previous hearing at Wigan and Leigh Magistrates’ Court, it was reported that Holding had been diagnosed as being terminally ill with cancer and it would be decided this month whether the case should be dropped or not.
And the decision has now been taken to press on, with the case adjourned until January 7 while the defendant’s treatment continues.
