Fury at new Wigan beauty spot vandalism
Keen photographer and wildlife enthusiast Steve Heaton snapped the images of tall trees reduced to mere stumps a few feet high at Amberswood between Hindley and Ince.
Mr Heaton says walkers at the popular beauty spot are swapping stories of offenders with an axe carrying out the vandalism.

Hide AdIt has been a bad summer for Wigan’s wildlife after a series of devastating fires ripped through the Flashes, causing damage to habitats which conservationists have said could take a decade to recover from fully.
Callous yobs have also been decimating swan and other bird populations, with the latest shocking incident involving a male mute swan being lured to an
Amberswood bridge and then having a heavy object fatally thrown on to it, either while still in the water or on the bank,
Earlier this year, swans were also found dead after being shot by air rifles or similar weapons.

“We’ve had birds killed and now trees hacked down. What sort of pleasure do these idiots take in this kind of behaviour? It’s beyond me.”
