Wigan's NHS Trust warns of 'high volume of calls' to wards and switchboard
Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust say they have dealt with a raft of calls to their hospital sites, including wards and switchboard this afternoon (November 3).
Bosses said that staff on their wards were "working at full capacity" and will answer the phones at "the first opportunity."

Hide AdIt comes amid a steep rise in Covid-19 cases across the borough and an increasing demand on services in its hospital and community sites.
The trust tweeted: "We are currently experiencing a high volume of calls to our hospital sites, including wards and switchboard.
"Staff on our wards are working at full capacity and will answer the phones at the first opportunity. Please bear with us.
"Should you require assistance, you can also contact the Patient Relations Department on 01942 822376 who will assist you as best as possible.
"Please note, that they will also be using telephone communication with the wards, as they are unable to physically visit the area."
