This award win sees them ranked in the top ten per cent of restaurants worldwide with the popular American online travel company.

Based on a full year of Tripadvisor reviews, prior to any changes caused by the pandemic, award winners, according to the firm’s website, exemplify ‘industry excellence’.

Speaking on having won the award, owner Angie Fouracre, 55, from Standish, said: “We’re really made up.

“We’re aware of reviews on Trip Advisor and Facebook and we get quite good reviews and are rated five overall.

“But we were still weren’t expecting to win this.”

Since opening in 2014, the business has expanded from nothing to a thriving cafe with 24 covers inside and 13 outside in its own little garden.

Employing three full-time and two part-time staff, the cafe sells a range of coffee, homemade food and cakes, and is popular with people of all ages in the village.

The cafe is no stranger to success.

During its time open, it has also won the 2015 Wigan Observer Cafe Of The Year award, Certificate of Excellence 2017 and Wish FM’s top five bed and breakfast for Wigan and St Helens.

And back in 2020, it’s busy since opening on July 4 after being closed during lockdown

Angie said: “We’re over the moon and we want to thank all our customers for making us winning this award possible.

“It’s taken a while since we opened after being closed and things have been up and down but it’s starting to pick up now.”
