Working from home is here to stay, business chiefs believe

Most business leaders believe working from home is here to stay, increasing the importance of communication skills and self-motivation, a new study suggests.

Four out of five of 250 company bosses surveyed said the drift away from offices because of the virus will be permanent.

The Careers & Enterprise Company said its poll suggested that demand for digital and IT skills will increase due to the rise in online and virtual working.

Interim chief executive John Yarham said: “The impact of the pandemic has forced business to adapt and adjust at pace. It has also accelerated many underlying changes in the economy and the way we work.

“These changes in the nature and culture of the workplace are in turn shaping the skills and qualities employers look for in young people.”
