Holland Hall at Up Holland has established a three-zone lay-out meaning three groups of 30 can attend indoors, with the service or ceremony being streamed from, for instance, a local crematorium, on big screens.

“Funerals are unfortunately a certainty for every family or community. There is therefore a demand, but Covid-19 means there are limits on the numbers who can attend the funeral itself,” said general manager Oliver Lynn.

“Equally, event-focused businesses, like ours, need to maintain jobs and generate revenues. We have therefore developed a series of protocols which enable us to meet demand, and abide by attendance limits, social distancing guidelines, provide safe catering, and cutlery and crockery sanitisation.

“If the ceremony is humanist, then we can run the entire occasion in Holland Hall and its grounds.”

Holland Hall has installed projectors and big screens, and many crematoriums, as well as some places of worship, have cameras enabling streaming back to the hotel.

“While the closest family members and friends can attend the service itself, the remainder of the guests can view the funeral from the four Covid-19-secure zones in the hotel, and the family and close friends join them after the funeral,” said Mr Lynn.

“We have invested in ultra-violet sanitisers enabling guests to sanitise face-coverings on arrival, and to enable the hotel staff to sanitise frequent-use items such as condiments.

“We have also developed systems for safe plate food service, and the layout of the building provides safe access to a four multiple-cubicle male, four multiple-cubicle female and three unisex disabled lavatories meaning groups from each zone do not come into contact with one-another.”

Streamed events can be booked immediately.
