People across the region are encouraged to take part in a 30km fundraising challenge to help Lancashire Wildlife Trust to restore nature.

Lancashire Wildlife Trust’s Big Wild Walk aims to be the biggest yet to encourage wildlife lovers to raise money and help restore nature across the UK. Supporters can create their own challenge with the aim of covering 30 kilometres in any way that suits them. The funds raised will support wildlife recovery and contribute to Lancashire Wildlife Trust's mission to protect 30% of the UK’s land and sea for nature by 2030. The funds will be going towards the Trust's £300,000 Step Up for Wildlife appeal. A digital fundraising pack will support everyone by providing a sponsorship sheet, distance tracking form and social media posts. Lucy Coxhead, Fundraising Manager at Lancashire Wildlife Trust, says: “By taking a walk in our beautiful local landscapes across Lancashire, Greater Manchester and Merseyside or wheeling around the block, everyone involved is playing a vital part in bringing nature back. "Our staff are really looking forward to getting involved and doing their own fundraising by walking through a total of 30 of our nature reserves, and we'll be sharing photos throughout the week on our social media channels." The Big Wild Walk takes place across from Monday the 21st October to Sunday 3rd November 2024. It’s half-term for schools and a great time for all ages to enjoy the great outdoors.
