Data shows how many people in region have received Covid-19 vaccines

The data shows how many people in the Greater Manchester Health and Social Care Partnership's area have had one or two doses of a Covid-19 vaccine.

The figures show 167,180 people in Greater Manchester had received their first jab only against the novel coronavirus by January 17.

Of those 96,675 were under 80 and 70,505 were over 80.

In addition some people, who are being counted separately in the data, have already had both doses of a vaccination.

This is because the first few who were called were given follow-up appointments for the second dose within three weeks, before the UK's chief medical officers changed the advice in order to get more people through their first dose and second jabs were pushed back to a longer time-frame.

In Greater Manchester 20,767 people had been given two doses of a vaccine as of January 17.

This group is made up of 13,568 over-80s and 7,199 people who are under 80.

The new data showing how many vaccines have been given out in each Sustainability and Transformation Partnership area has been released by NHS England.

The national protocol, which the authorities in Wigan and the rest of Greater Manchester are following, suggest groups who should be vaccinated first included care home residents and staff, over-80s and health and social care employees.

Over-70s in some parts of Greater Manchester have also now started receiving their first doses of a vaccine.
