This means the case rate for the borough is 136.3 per 100,000 residents.

Cases reported in the week ending September 25 rose to 462. This is still subject to change but seems to be the highest weekly total recorded during the pandemic, surpassing the 409 cases recorded in the week up to April 24.

Its rate is also lower than the 150.4 per 100,000 residents recorded for the North West as a whole.

And there were no Covid-19 related deaths recorded in the borough in the most recent week of figures.

Wigan remains on red alert level for new cases and is an area of concern on the national escalation framework.
