WIGAN sharp-shooters targeted a major prize in an Olympic-style archery tournament.
Bowmen and women from across the North of England and Midlands descended on Wigan Rugby Union Club on Wingates Road for a head-to-head contest.
Archers first had to negotiate a qualifying round by firing 72 arrows at a target 50m away before moving on to the knock-out stages, with matches determined by the most accurate shooting of 15 arrows each, arranged in five ends of three.
Every shot was watched over by five eagle-eyed judges, including one who will be at the Paralympics.
The tournament was organised by Wigan and Orrell Archers. The club shoots throughout the summer at Wigan RUFC and holds winter training at Wigan Target Sports Club in Poolstock and PEMBEC High School Sports Hall in Pemberton.
