OLYMPIC gold medallist and Tour de France champion Bradley Wiggins joins musical hero Paul Weller for a two-hour radio special on Boxing Day.

The closet guitar player, who is a self-confessed mod and the “Modfather” share anecdotes and their love of music in a programme for BBC 6 Music that will be broadcast from 1pm.

Wiggins, voted the BBC’s Sports Personality of the Year on Sunday, recalls his school days and pretending to be Liam Gallagher. He also talks stick-on sideburns and plays down his chances of a knighthood.

He recently showed off his guitar skills during an after-party for the BBC Sports Personality of the Year show at London’s ExCeL Arena.

He joined Rick Parfitt Junior’s band for a rendition of That’s Entertainment by The Jam, aided by an unnamed singing security guard plucked from the crowd because he knew the lyrics.
