YOUNG singers and actors went back to the era of Prohibition with their production of a classic musical.
The cast of pupils at St Edmund Arrowsmith RC High School in Ashton brought Bugsy Malone to life for the school’s annual production.
The tale of a down and out boxing promoter who emerges from various tangles with the gangsters of the mob, the stage version is based closely on the 1970s film which is a homage to classic Hollywood gangster films.
The choice of musical was also particularly appropriate as the film version was acted entirely by a school-age cast.
The show played to packed houses at the Rookery Avenue school, with local primary school pupils also being invited to watch the dress rehearsal.
