ONE of soapland’s most recognisable faces dropped in to a Wigan care home to say hello to some of his fans.
Alan Halsall, who plays car mechanic Tyrone Dobbs in Coronation Street, visited residents and staff at Ash Tree House in Hindley.
Walkden-born actor Alan, who has been part of the Corrie cast since 1998, was the star guest at a day of activities inspired by the storylines and characters of Weatherfield, with the home being decorated with pictures of the hit ITV soap from throughout its history.
Alan met some of the home’s residents and chatted to them and their families, before signing memorabilia and autographs. He also put his pen to a range of Coronation Street-themed items which were then raffled off.
The home also put on a brunch based on the food at the Coronation Street cafe run by character Roy Cropper as part of the event, which proved a hit with residents, many of whom are avid fans of the popular programme.
Off-screen Alan is about to become a father as his wife Lucy-Jo Hudson, who also appeared on the Weatherfield cobbles as Katy Harris between 2002 and 2005, is expecting the couple’s first child at the end of this month.
Ash Tree House is run by Ideal Care Homes, which owns 36 homes across the country, and was built by Leeds-based sister company LNT Construction.
