WIGAN was hit by “Insania” today as fans queued to be the first to get their hands on tickets to see pop star Peter Andre perform at Haigh Hall Live.
Music fans braved the cold weather, some as early as 6am, outside Wigan Tourist Information Centre to buy tickets for the first night of this year’s concert series at Haigh country park.
The Mysterious Girl singer will open Haigh Hall Live on Friday, July 1 in a spectacular outdoor concert, part of a weekend-long music event with the Saturday night headliner yet to be announced.
Joanne Leyden, 27, from Hindley Green, was the first to receive Peter Andre tickets.
She said: “I go to Haigh Fest each year and can’t wait to see Peter Andre as part of a whole weekend. The concerts are great for the area and even better that Wigan residents are offered the £5 discount.”
A spokesman for organisers Cuffe & Taylor said: “Bringing Peter Andre to Wigan is all about people coming out to Haigh Hall to have some fun. Peter will be supported by some other top names that will be released very soon. We are encouraging Wigan to get behind this event, and promise that it will be a night to remember.”
Tickets went on sale at 9am this morning, and concert organisers are offering a £5 discount off the £32.50 tickets to all Wigan residents with a WN1 - WN8 postcode.
Tickets can be bought in person at Wigan Tourist Information Centre, online at www.SeeTickets.com or www.Ticketmaster.co.uk or by calling 0844 873 7334. Wigan residents must enter their postcode in the promo/discount box online.
