HUNDREDS turned out to celebrate a popular village carnival opened by one of the country’s top actresses.
Shevington and District Community Fete was blessed by glorious weather and the droves of visitors found a range of attractions delighting toddlers right up to pensioners.
In fact, between the venues of St Anne’s, where the craft fair was staged along with charities and local organisation, plus the Recreation Ground there were over 60 further activities and stalls to entertain visitors.
Highlight was the official opening by TV tour de force actress Sue Johnston - formerly Barb from The Royle Family and these days a main character in Coronation Street.
She attended in memory of the late Tim Hooley, a family friend, fete supporter and a resident of Shevington.
