Former boy band star to join Lionel Richie at Leigh Sports Village

Megastar Lionel Richie will be joined by a well-known singer when he performs in the borough.

Tickets are on sale for his concert at Leigh Sports Village on Saturday, June 16 as part of a summer tour across the country.

It has today been announced that former Westlife singer Shane Filan, who is now a solo artist, will be a special guest on the All The Hits summer tour.

Westlife achieved 14 UK number one hits, 11 top five albums and sold more than 50m records worldwide before their dissolution in 2012.

He will join Richie for shows in Leigh, Carlisle, Hove and Holkham, while singer Anastacia will perform at other venues on the tour.

These will be Richie’s first UK shows since receiving glittering reviews for the All The Hits tour which included three nights at London’s The O2.

The dates followed a Glastonbury performance which drew the biggest crowd of the weekend as more than 200,000 people flocked to the Pyramid Stage.

His success continued as his album The Definitive Collection topped the charts and provided his first UK number one in 23 years.
