A WIGAN rescue farm hosted a successful fund-raiser in the aim of pursuing their project of saving hens from slaughter to re-home them in a safe environment.

Lucky Hens Rescue North West sold seed potatoes and onion sets, and ran a tombola, cake, and soup and refreshment stalls in a bid to raise money for the centre.

Families and children were also able to have their picture taken with the hens or Little Jake the Shetland pony.

Not only this but there were countless activities held throughout the day. The rescue centre has saved and re-homed over 14,000 hens to date.

Reports in this week’s Wigan Observer stating there is another event this Sunday are incorrect. There will in fact be no further potato-growing events this year.
