RESEARCH has shown that people in Wigan would rather share a meal with top tweeter Stephen Fry than pop icon Cheryl Cole.
Hardys wine has revealed that Stephen was by far the winner of the poll of more than 2,000 people, beating celebrities such as Sir David Attenborough, Simon Cowell, David Beckham and Jonathan Ross.
In stark contrast to the national result, 14 per cent of people in Wigan would rather enjoy the company of Fry than sit opposite Cheryl Cole at a dinner table. Some 17 per cent of Wiganers would least like to see Anne Robinson’s smirk across the table and 11 per cent would least like to listen to Tony Blair chatter away.
The Hardys poll also revealed that dinner parties are not just about the food, with 45 per cent believing that good conversation and getting on well with the other guests is a recipe for dinner party success.
Bad table manners are still deemed to be the biggest dinner faux pas, with 27 per cent saying this is the thing that puts them off the most, closely followed by guests bringing cheap wine for the host.
