MARY Makin is celebrating her 104th birthday.
The mother of two enjoyed a party at Appleby Court care home, in Pemberton, surrounded by her family, which included her five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and one great-great grandaughter.
Mary, who used to work in the weaving shed in Clifton Mills and was married to Clifford Makin for 52 years, moved into the home five years ago and she loves taking part in its activities.
Her daughter, Joyce Grimshaw, said: “Mum can walk about in her zimmer frame but she is deaf and has no hearing aid. It is marvellous that she has reached 104. She keeps going and is really strong. She really enjoyed her party and the residents loved it.”
