A WIGAN gym is to host an energy-sapping eight-hour bootcamp in a bid to raise thousands of pounds for charity.
Members at JSBeFit are taking part in the mammoth session next month and bosses want as many people as possible to join in on May 2 from 8am.
Owned by John Boland and Sarah Berry, the gym on Billinge Road – formally the Delph garage – raised a whopping £2,347.50 for Wigan and Leigh Hospice in last year’s event and are hoping to surpass that figure.
Since then, the fitness club has gone from strength to strength and seen its army of members grow, giving them confidence that they can smash the 2014 total.
They’ve also extended the gym so there’s plenty room for anyone else who wants to head down and lose a few pounds to raise a few pounds.
The destination of the money is a special one for John as it has a personal affiliation with his family.
He said: “My father and grandfather both passed away in 2002, spending their last few days under the amazing care and supervision at Wigan and Leigh hospice.
“So since becoming co-owner of JSBeFIT in 2013, we decided to hold an event for this amazing charity.
“We managed to raise more than £2,000 for the hospice which was a great effort from all who got involved. This time we are looking at making it even bigger and raising an even bigger sum for the hospice.”
