PUPILS at a Wigan school have been digging in celebration of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.

Children from St Mark’s CE Primary have planted more than 60 trees, working alongside the Woodlands Trust and Mandy Morrison from the Royal Horticultural Society to commemorate the historic occasion.

Karen Long from St Mark’s said: “The children have worked really hard to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and we are marking this special moment in history.

“This year millions of people across the UK will come together to plant six million trees, transforming our landscape for generations to come.”
