KYM Marsh celebrated her birthday by renewing her contract with Coronation Street.
The newly-36-year-old was also overwhelmed when she received gifts from super fans and she was also treated to a special lunch by her mum and dad, Pauline and Dave.
Kym, of Ashton, had previously expressed her doubts about whether or not she would have her contract in the soap renewed when it came to an end this month, by saying: “I’ve no idea yet, I don’t know if they want me to stay, so we’ll just have to wait until next year and see what happens. I would like to stay, if it’s right for me and right for them I’ll definitely stay, but there are two parties involved and it’s got to work for everybody.”
But the Coronation Street Press Office reassured fans that factory worker Michelle will stay put in Weatherfield for the considerable future and she will be involved in more storylines.
A spokesman said: “There are lots of big dramatic stories for her over the summer, running the factory and looking for love.’
Of the decision to become a regular on the show, Kym said: ”If anybody had told me I’d end up starring in Coronation Street one day, I’d have laughed and told them to shut up. I’ve always said this would be my dream job. My mum has watched the show for years so I’ve grown up with it.”
