X-FACTOR singer Laura White has become the patron of a self-help group.

Laura White, from Atherton, has given her support to No Secrets, a voluntary organisation, which was co-founded in October 2007.

The first peer support group began in St Helens and in 2011 four others were formed in Wigan, Halton, Warrington and Knowsley.

Laura, who is currently recording her debut album and writing for other artists, said: “It is an honour to be a patron of No Secrets.

“So many of my fans and people I know have been affected by self-harm, so it is a subject close to my heart. Everybody at sometime in their life needs care, support and patience and No Secrets is amazing at giving this.”
