A MAN who has set himself the task of running 740 miles between every Premier League football ground will be calling in on Wigan next month.
This Monday, John Gartland embarks on his gruelling tour of the country which he plans to complete in just 21 days.
The tour, the equivalent to 28 marathons, sets off from Newcastle United’s ground and ends at Norwich City’s Carrow Road.
Chester-based John is hoping to raise more than £50,000 for the Alder Hey Hospital Imagine Appeal and The Daisy Garland.
These are two charities that have helped his nephew William Reid who was diagnosed with epilepsy at just six months old.
John isn’t a professional runner but has been training hard over the last three months to help prepare himself for this mammoth journey.
He is also hoping to promote healthy living, running and English Football clubs, all of which are in the forefront of minds this year with the Olympics rapidly approaching this summer.
John is scheduled to stop by at the DW Stadium at 12.30pm on Friday March 2 and there are a number of ways to get involved and show your support.
A friend said: “Whether it’s just standing on the sidelines cheering him on or maybe even getting involved with a spot of jogging alongside him yourself, every little helps.” For more details visit www.runningmissdaisy.co.uk
