THIS lifelike wooden owl will guard a Wigan estate for years to come.
Chainsaw sculptor Tim Burgess carved the bird of prey before the admiring eyes of residents in Worsley Green, Pemberton.
Coun Jeanette Prescott who organised the demonstration, said: “These sculptures are beautiful.
“Children really enjoyed watching Tim create the owl and now it will be used in the green park in Worsley Green.”
Local councillors are also planning to spend Brighter Borough Fund cash on another statue - a 7ft First World War soldier - which should be installed at Pemberton Memorial Garden in the summer.
Coun Prescott added: “We thought it would be perfect to commemorate the centenary of the First World War.
“Every year we lay wreaths in the garden and this is the perfect tribute.”
