A WIGAN woman has scooped a top prize on one of Britain’s most popular quiz shows.
Jean of Orrell bagged a massive £4,433 on ITV’s The Chase on Tuesday evening after beating the quiz experts in a nail-biting episode.
The 66-year-old told viewers she was planning on spending the holiday on whisking her husband away on a cruise to Alaska.
Ending up in a team of three, Jean battled the ‘chaser’ to win as much money as possible answering as many questions as she could in a set space of time. And after winning a share of £14,300 alongside her fellow contestants, the former NHS worker admitted she was ‘over the moon’.
Talking on the programme she said: “I know I didn’t contribute much but I’m still thrilled, can I do it again?”
Hosted by Bradley Walsh, four contestants pitted their wits against the chaser, Anne Hegerty, a ruthless quiz genius determined to stop them winning the prize.
The team of four individually attempt to amass as much money as possible, which will later be added to a prize fund if the contestant survives their individual chase.
The Chaser’s job is to catch each contestant during their chase, eliminating that person from the game and preventing the money from being added to the fund.
Any contestants who survive their individual chase later play collectively as a team for an equal share of the prize fund against the Chaser.
