RICK Astley is the second most Googled meme of 2015.
As part of Google’s annual round-up of the people, places, and events that got the most attention on search in the US in the past year, it identified the 10 memes that produced the greatest spikes in traffic over the longest period of time in 2015.
And the former Newton-le-Willows crooner managed to get in the list twice - at number two with Rickrolling and number six as Rick Astley.
The Rickrolling phenomenon - where people are diverted to his famous Never Gonna Give You Up tune - is evidently still alive, despite being started eight years ago.
And it is getting more creative.
Only this week, sent a message to her friend saying that she likes to play Rick Astley’s Never Gonna Give You Up when she’s ringing the bells for her college.
The campanologist, who plays in the Altgeld Bell Tower at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, even shared a shot of the sheet music for the 1987 chart smash.
And computer science students thought they’d struck gold and gained an easy pass when their professor appeared to give them a guide to their final exams - but actually just trolled them with Never Gonna Give You Up lyrics.
Speaking about the RickRolling trend, he previously said: “I think it’s just one of those odd things where something gets picked up and people run with it. But that’s what brilliant about the internet.”
