WIGANERS were introduced to a whole new luxury concept in bus travel this week - in fact it’s fit for a queen!
Shoppers were doing a double-take as a royal look-alike tucked into pies as she helped to promote a new addition to the Arriva North West in the town centre.
The new Sapphire brand has swish onboard facilities including free wi-fi, USB charging points, luxury leather type seating, extra leg room and audio/visual next stop announcements on board.
The 15 Sapphire buses will operate exclusively on the quarter of an hourly No 362 (Wigan to Chorley) and No 575 (Wigan to Bolton via Blackrod) bus routes.
To mark the occasion Arriva ran a competition to give residents the opportunity to win their own regal title.
Winners Daniel Anderton and Frank Iddon were treated like royalty while a Queen lookalike officially presented them with their titles.
