FRESH after his knighthood, Sir Bradley Wiggins now has another honour - a Scout badge.

The Tour De France winner, whose wife, Catherine, hails from Shevington, has been awarded a badge to mark the movement’s 106th birthday.

More than half a million Scouts from across the UK voted for public figures who have inspired youngsters and contributed to society.

The celebrities chosen have encouraged others to try new activities and learn new skills.

Jessica Ennis-Hill, film director Danny Boyle, singer Jessie J, TV personality Graham Norton, comedian and presenter Dara O’Briain and wildlife expert Chris Packham were also awarded the birthday badges.

Chief Scout Bear Grylls congratulated the badge recipients, saying: “The Scout Association is proud to recognise the award winners who have inspired young people over the last year. Across the UK, Scouts have voted for the people whose skills and commitment merit an honorary Scout badge. Inspiring young people is so important, and the badge recipients join the 100,000 adults across the UK who volunteer for the Scouts, and who inspire young people week in, week out. I am super-proud of all of them.”
