WORKING in Benidorm can be a hazardous place - as Sherrie Hewson has found.
The actress has just returned to sunny Wigan after four months of filming for the ITV comedy series and has revealed that her character Joyce Temple Savage takes a tumble - and she does her own stunts.
Speaking exclusively to Goss, Sherrie said: “I can’t let out any secrets on the show, but I do my own stunts...”
Whilst readers will be intrigued as to what happens to beloved Joyce, they can be rest assured that the 63-year-old was unharmed during filming.
So what can she reveal?
Sherrie, who also starred in Emmerdale and presented Loose Women, said: “I only came back from Benidorm two weeks ago and I have had the most amazing time.
“Crystal Henessy-Vass, played by Joan Collins, is still my boss and she is still as nasty as ever - so things happen between the two of us.
“And of course Joyce will always be in love with Mateo, but he doesn’t love her.
“She doesn’t particularly have a love interest this year because so many other things are happening.
“Johnny Vegas is back, which is a great joy as he is a fantastic actor,
“The whole series is very exciting - I can’t wait to see it.”
And Sherrie will be reunited with former Coronation Street pal Amanda Barrie, who played Alma Baldwin in the ITV soap.
She will play Psychic Sue, a wacky clairvoyant who is a regular at the resort’s hair salon and will end up in an hilarious plotline involving crimpers Kenneth du Beke, played by Tony Maudsley, and Adam Gillen’s character Liam Conroy.
A source said: “It’s a thrill to have Amanda back on the box. She and Sherrie are a hoot together.”
“She and Sherrie are a hoot together.”
Other guest stars to have been confirmed for the seventh series of Benidorm include Nadia Sawalha and Only Fools and Horses actor John Challis, with further announcements expected soon.
