She said: “I was delighted to be asked to open Southport Flower Show. Gardening is my passion and my relaxation from work. I have had an allotment in my time but was never very successful at growing things, probably because I tried exotic fruits that need hot weather. I did try a grapevine when I lived in the South and did quite well until a freak June hail storm ripped it down! I used to trim my lawn with a pair of scissors until someone pointed out it was a bit of a crazy thing to be doing so I stopped but I can still be very obsessive over my lawn.”
She will be among a host of famous names at Southport including the award winning French chef Jean-Christophe Novelli.
General Manager Ray Roukin said: “We’re looking forward to welcoming Sherrie to Southport and we’re sure our seaside show will offer a day out to remember.”
Southport Flower Show runs from Thursday August 20 to Sunday August 23. Advance tickets are available for £18 per person. Children under 16 go free when accompanied by a paying adult.
