HOLLYWOOD actress Cate Blanchett has admitted to having a secret crush on Sir Ian McKellen.
She admitted that starring opposite the Wigan actor in The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, was the “highlight” of her career.
She told Empire magazine: “What was extraordinary for me was getting to work with Ian McKellen.
“He’s just a god amongst men. It’s a highlight of my career getting to act with him. He’s a wonderful man and one of the most extraordinary actors. I honestly think he’s one of the best of all time. I’m smitten.”
Meanwhile, the former X Men star has helped boost a fund set up for the children of Karina Menzies, who was killed in the hit-and-run incidents in West Cardiff last week.
Sir Ian offered a lunch for six with himself and actress Frances Barber at his London pub, The Grapes. The prize raised almost £5,000 when actor Hugh Grant teamed up with another bidder.
