ONE of the world’s greatest living violinists provides a local village with a spectacular finale to its A-list music season.

The Russian virtuoso Alina Ibragimova is the guest of Douglas Music for a concert it hosts at the newly refurbished Parbold Village Hall on May 10.

Her debut at the hall - which is rapidly becoming an important venue on the region’s chamber music circuit - will mark the end of the society’s highly successful 40th anniversary concert series.

Ibragimova, who has appeared with orchestras and conductors around the world, arrives in Lancashire following a two-day residency at the Royal College of Music, London where she will perform and give master-classes to students at her former college.

Her recital includes performances by the Six Violin Sonatas by one of the greatest violinists of all time, Eugène Ysaÿe.

The season has already enjoyed sell-out performances by Craig Ogden, Nikolai Demidenko, Sunwook Kim, Amanda Roocroft and Martin Carthy among others.

Tickets are £15 (£5 students and young persons). For further information or to purchase tickets, please visit or call the Box Office on 01257 498452 or 01257 462382.
