A WIGAN store turned pink to raise cash for charity.

In support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month and to celebrate Tickled Pink’s 15th anniversary, a cross trainer and exercise bike were put up in the foyer of the Asda store on Soho Street.

Staff took turns on the machines while money was collected through various activities, including a cake maker and a raffle. A total of £1,255 was raised over the two days.

The store’s community colleague, Joe Barclay, said: “The atmosphere around the store over the weekend was brilliant. It was great to see customers also get involved in the fun!

“Six hours was a long time to spend on the bike but knowing that the money would go towards Tickled Pink was all the motivation we needed. We raised over £6,000 for the charity last year and we are hoping to beat that figure in 2011.”

Asda’s Tickled Pink campaign has raised more than £25m since its launch in 1996.

The campaign supports Breast Cancer Campaign and Breast Cancer Care.
