MEET Wigan’s proud Puparrazi!
These top dogs are now the canine trimming trendsetters for large parts of the country.
They are wet-nose and tail above your average pooch in the fashion stakes because they are the models for bold new fur-cuts at Wallgate’s Anrich Academy of Dog... a booming part of the busy veterinary hospital.
In fact the animal care base in Caroline Street has so many trainee groomers enrolled that they are now on the lookout for a whole new kennel full of four-legged friends who enjoy wagging their way down the cat walk.
Existing models Noa the poodle, Buble the bichon frise, Honey Hustle the shih tzu and Benji the ever-jolly Cavalier King Charles spaniel are the current canines lucky enough to spend their days at Anrich Academy in seminars and presentations throughout the year.
Noa’s owner Linda Winrow said: “Noa loves his modelling work as he enjoys all the attention and he always looks fantastic.”
Michael Creagh, who owns perennial tail-wagger Benji the Cavalier King Charles, said his pet “really looks forward” to his visits to Anrich and “loves being pampered”.
Anrich grooming service supervisor Christine Foster loves helping dogs look their best.
She now shares her Wigan home with a Labradoodle she rescued from the street, which she fell for during a previous life while working in the holiday industry in Greece.
Fifteen-year-old bilingual Ari – or Aristotle to his former Hellenic mates – arrived in the borough via the Passport for Pets scheme .
And now speaks both languages since coming back with her. She says: “Greek and Wigan!”
She has been involved with dogs, professionally and as an animal rescue volunteer, for the past two decades.
Christine said: “I am crazy about all dogs, to be honest.
“But these dogs are absolute stars and just great for modelling due to their lovely temperaments, they really are.
“Noa the poodle has been modelling for us for a number of years and has great confidence and style. Honey Hustle is four and is an absolute natural and a little angel.
“The bichon frise, Buble, is only 18 months old and Benji the cavalier is one.
“Both started modelling from a very early age and have taken to it like ducks to water.
“They all thoroughly enjoy themselves and I have watched them all grow in confidence. Each one of them has bags of style. Anrich Training Academy is going from strength to strength and we have recently expanded with a new salon area.
“Training courses, seminars and presentations are held throughout the year to keep up with demand.”
