A GLAMOROUS Wigan teenager is set to represent her country after she landed a place in this year’s Miss England semi-finals.
Bethany Dove from Whelley hopes to secure the title as a first step on the path to a career in modelling, with the eventual ambition of making it into the Miss World competition.
I’ll just be pleased if I manage to complete the catwalk without falling. Whoever goes to the final and wins really will deserve itBethany Dove
And the 19-year-old says she is honoured to be representing her hometown at such a high-profile national competition.
Bethany said: “It’s such a huge honour to get to the semi finals. There are lots of girls involved and it hasn’t quite sunk in that I’m actually going to the semi final on my first Miss England heat.
“Usually pageant girls do lots of pageants before Miss England heats because it’s just so hard to win, and I’m honoured to represent not only Bolton and Bury, but Wigan, my home town, and the north west.
“My favourite part of the pageant is definitely the charity aspect of it all. I really love organising events and what better way to do that whilst raising money.
“I think every girl wants to win but that’s the great thing about it, in this pageant every girl wins.
“I’ll just be pleased if I manage to complete the catwalk without falling. Whoever goes to the final and wins really will deserve it.”
The event will take place on May 29 in Leicester.
Bethany said: “I never have had stage fright as I’ve danced all of my life but this is something completely different and I’ll be out of my comfort zone.
“And I do think I’ll be more relieved once the walks are over. I think that I will be fine on the night if I keep saying to myself it’s all for a great cause.
“I think pageants have been really negatively portrayed in the past but now having entered one I’ve managed to speak to a lot of the girls and they’re all such lovely, genuine people.”
Bethany isn’t set only on a future career on the catwalk and also hopes to study law at university.
