FORMER Wigan resident David McIntosh is vying to become a world-famous wrestler.
David, who grew up in Platt Bridge, is well known in the fitness circuit and found fame as Tornado in the Sky1 remake of Gladiators.
I love being in front of the camera and there’s no better platform for demonstrating my athletic ability than in the wrestling ringDavid McIntosh
And now he is in secret talks with World Wrestling Entertainment bosses and plans to move to Los Angeles in the New Year.
He told The Daily Star Sunday: “This is something I have always wanted to do. I love being in front of the camera and there’s no better platform for demonstrating my athletic ability than in the wrestling ring.”
The 29-year-old, who was once engaged to model Kelly Brook, aims to be big as The Rock, aka Dwayne Johnson.
He said: “The Rock is an all-time great. It’s because of his character and flair to entertain. That’s what I intend to bring. I’m a nice guy but in the ring I am a different person, an alter ego, and I don’t mind whether I am cheered or booed.”
David, a former St Edmund Arrowsmith pupil, is currently living in Sydney, Australia, promoting his nutritional supplements and products through his brand Devil Dawg.
And the move will mean a long distance relationship with Australian jewellery designer Juliet Bakos. He added: “A few thousand miles doesn’t diminish love. I will be back and forth at all opportunities. There’s no engagement yet. I’ve come to view engagement and marriage as not so important. In my experience, respect, trust and love for one another speak volumes over a ring.”
