Youngsters preparing to join in beauty pageant

ORGANISERS of the Miss Wigan Beauty contest are hoping this year’s event will be bigger than their first one.

Nearly 70 girls have already entered and this year there is also a section for boys with 10 boy signed up.

The event was a huge success last year, raising thousands for charity and organiser and model Jade Boswell is hoping for more of the same.

She said: “As always, our pageants are about making friends, building confidence and making a difference in the community.

“We are amazed at how big the pageants have got and pleased that we have dispelled the myth that pageants are all about beauty on the outside.

“We strive to ensure that our contestants shine through from their beauty from within.

“The contestants are working super hard this year and are supported by mums and dads are working hard too arranging major fund raising events from now to June.

“Our chosen charity is Wigan and Leigh Hospice. So far we have raised over £3,000.

“Every contestant must raise a minimum of £25 for the hospice with the person raising the most crowned Mr or Miss Wigan charity.”

Winners will receive a modelling portfolio by Poppy photography, personalised bags by Shanmarie Bags, winner’s crowns and sashes.
