28 people held after series of drugs raids


A TOTAL of 28 people, including dozens from Skelmersdale, have been arrested as part of a major investigation into the supply of cocaine and heroin.

The 24 men and four women were held following a series of raids across the region.

Police later charged 14 people while three were released on police bail, one received a caution and another was released without charge.

A further six people remain in police custody.

A 45-year-old man from Skelmerdale has also been given a police caution, while Kevin Hill, 53, of Uppingham, Skelmersdale has been charged with supplying cocaine and supplying heroin. He has been bailed to appear at Preston Magistrates Court today.

A 39-year-old man from Liverpool arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of cocaine bailed pending further enquiries.
